Saturday, February 1, 2003. Dr. Jim Ingold, ornithologist at LSU-Shreveport, led the bird-banding efforts. Other participants included Colleen Cookson of Shreveport, Rachid Feretti of Shreveport, Ron Munden of Marshall, Diane Jones of Jonesville, Dorothy Metzler of Longview, and Tom Walker of Jefferson.
Location: The banding activities took place just west of Caddo Lake in Marion County on Boots Walker Road (near Jefferson, Texas).
Weather Conditions: Clear and mild. The morning low was in the lower to mid 30's and the afternoon high was in the mid to upper 60's.
Time: The nets were put up from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. and were down by 5:30 p.m.
Number of Nets: Eleven (11)
Next Banding Date: To be announced. Watch our bird-banding home page or check with Tom Walker [E-mail: twalkercaddolaketx(at)att.net] for the latest information.
Special Note: We netted a Henslow's Sparrow today that Jim had banded almost exactly one year ago, on February 2, 2002. This was the first Henslow's Sparrow banded here that we've retrapped after it migrated north and returned here.
