Saturday, May 4, 2002. Dr. Jim Ingold, ornithologist at LSU-Shreveport, led the bird-banding efforts. Other participants included Hazel Bluhm, Jeffrey Keller and Tom Walker of Jefferson; Diane Jones of Jonesville; Barbara Hudson, Carole Ann and Carolyn Boyd of Dallas; Nancy Menasco, Jerry Bertrand, Lily Poole, Shirley Huss from the Shreveport area; and Dr. Jack & Mary Jane Sanders of Caddo Lake.
Location: The
activities took place just west of Caddo Lake in Marion County on
Boots Walker Road (near Jefferson, Texas).
Weather Conditions: Heavy overcast in the morning and partly cloudy by early afternoon. The temperatures began in the 60's and afternoon high reached the mid-70's.
Time: We began putting up nets at 8:15 a.m. and they were down by 3:45 p.m.
Number of Nets: 12
Special Note:
The Wilson's and
Black-throated Green Warblers were new species for our Caddo Lake banding
list.
Next Banding Date: Bird banding activities at this location will be suspended for the summer and will not resume again until October.
