Saturday, February 28, 2009: Dr. Jim Ingold, ornithologist at LSU-Shreveport, led the bird-banding activities. Other participants and visitors included Tom Walker of Jefferson
; Tony Novak of Karnack; Diane Jones of Jonesville; Ronald Hollomon and Kayden Grishom of Jefferson; Sean Hansell of Las Vegas, NV; Zac & Camille Burson of Haughton, LA; and Chuck Bennett of Haughton, LA; plus Cub Scouts and their parents or grandparents Mandy & Blake Hartzo; Ellen, Michael, & Paul Stevens; Sarah, Caleb & Seth Wall of Bivins, TX; Carolyn & Noah Mitchell; Julie & Hunter Bauer, and Spencer Batts of McLeod, TX; and Paul, Kim, Austin & Joshua Gilmore of Vivian, LA.
Weather
Conditions:
The morning low temperature was 43º F and
the afternoon high was 50º F. The morning was cloudy and the afternoon was
sunny. It was very windy from the north.
Time:
We started setting up nets at 9:00 a.m. and all nets were closed by 4:45 p.m
Next Banding Date: We
plan to band again on Saturday, March 21, weather permitting. If
