Saturday, January 22, 2011:  Dr. Jim Ingold, ornithologist at LSU-Shreveport, led the bird-banding activities.  Other participants and visitors included Tom Walker of Jefferson; Don Kendell of Texarkana; Liz Hendrix of Shreveport; Em Hellum of Nashville, Arkansas; Celia Hancock of Texarkana; Carolyn & Ron Bova of Quitman; Paul Tidwell of Jefferson; Charles Steger of Atlanta, Texas; Hanna DeClerk with the Marshall News Messenger; Karen Morris and daughter, Katy of Jefferson; and Richard Pruitt of Dallas.

 

Weather Conditions:  The morning low temperature was 21º F and the afternoon high was 50º F.  The sky was mostly sunny with a few high clouds.


Number of Nets:  Twelve (12)

 

Time:  We started setting up nets at 9:00 a.m. and all nets were closed by 2:00 p.m. because we were overwhelmed with birds.  It was 4:30 p.m. before we were finished for the day.
