Saturday, May 15, 2010: Dr. Jim Ingold, ornithologist at LSU-Shreveport, led the bird-banding activities. Other participants and visitors included Tom Walker of Jefferson; Ron & Carolyn Bova -- Quitman; David Connell and son Grant -- Shreveport; Pat Gasperson -- Marshall; Les Hassell -- Tatum (Longview News Journal); Liz Hendrix -- Shreveport; Ronald Hollomon -- Jefferson; Jimmy Isaac -- Longview (Longview News Journal); Patrick & Barbara McGuffey -- Galveston; Richard Pruitt -- Dallas; Sarah Schulwitz – Denton; Carol Scott -- Austin; Cliff & Julie Shackelford and children Alex and Robin -- Nacogdoches; Sue Simmons and granddaughters Cheyenne, Savannah, and Olivia -- Marshall; Charles D. Steger -- Atlanta, Texas; Paul Tidwell -- Jefferson; Ryan Williams – Denton; Joyce Williamson -- Marshall.Weather Conditions: The morning low temperature was 70º F and the afternoon high was 87º F. The sky varied from partly cloudy to sunny, with no wind.
Time:
We started setting up nets at 8:45 a.m. and all nets were closed by 6:00 p.m.
Note:
Today we saw our first White-winged Dove at this location.
